The Filming Division can be introduced as a special division with the unique aim of producing the best in cinematography for future cinema.

In a very short period of time, the filming division has organized a number of programs not only for university undergraduates but also for excellence in short film making trough short films and various workshops.

In the year 2019/2020 Mr. Dimuthu Lakmal was the head of Dubbing and Filming Division. In the year 2020/2021 Mr.Charith Dilhara was the first head in the newly introduced division called ‘Filming Division’. Since 2021 to 2022 Mr.Madhawa Madawala was the head of the division and Miss.Randi Ushara is currently working as the head of division in the year 2022-2023.

‘Cinero’ is the first-ever Short Film Festival organized by the Filming Division of J'pura Voice, the Official Media and Broadcasting Unit of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Cinero will be focused on the main theme "New Dimensions of Cinema". Cinero, the Short Film Festival mainly includes a Short Film Competition which is open for all Sri Lankan Nationals. The short films were evaluated by a panel of judges and a list of short films will be shortlisted for the final round and those are planned to be screened during the film festival. Finally, those short films awarded under several award categories at the end of the film festival.

Communique is a workshop series organized by the Filming Division of J'pura Voice for the second consecutive time. The project was held in three phases as, Phase I - A three-day workshop series on Cinematography with the experts in the field. Phase II - Self-acting short video contest for the participants of the workshop series. Phase III - A practical session with the winners of the contest

”සිනමංසල” is a cinematography workshop conducted with the aim of bringing out the potential and hidden talents of university students with the aim of producing future filmmakers.

This workshop is going with the main objective of developing the abilities of the members within J’pura Voice. This workshop was conducted online for the first time in the previous year and this year as well, and as an extension of it, in this time it conducted through physical methods.

With the main objective of developing the abilities of the members of the Filming Division, the entire J'pura Voice unit is going to give the opportunity to those members to join the association for this purpose. In this workshop, which is expected to be conduct as a monthly event and Acting and Short film making are the planned topics to be organized in the workshop

This Project is implemented by giving an opportunity to film reviewing of the university undergraduates. Here they have the ability to write their reviews about any local and foreign moves and TV series in their preferred language.

Film කතා is a film and TV series reviewing video series done by filming division.  The presenters who have presenting skills and like to express their feeling about cinema, can share their feeling with this.

Several short films have presented on YouTube so far, giving opportunities to future creators such as talented actors, directors, script writers, cinematographers of the filming division.
