Japura Voice is the premier official media unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, one of the most prestigious university level broadcasting units in Sri Lanka. We meet all the media needs of undergraduates and the local community.

Bringing forth the voice of undergraduates of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura through their skills in announcing, debating, dubbing, filming, and programming.

Our Mission

Facilitating the media need of the university and its clubs and associations by providing them with necessary support as the university’s official broadcasting unit while providing opportunities for the own members to showcase their talents in media.

Our History

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. J’pura Voice, the Official Broadcasting Unit of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura claims a short, but glorious history proving that ‘Great things are done by a series of small things brought together’. With a collective effort of Mr. Pasan Wijayawadhane, the Founder President, and Ms. Meenu Gunasinghe, the Founder Secretary, J’pura Voice was established on 20^th June 2019 with just 20 members. Gradually, members started joining in and the First Executive Board was appointed. The First-Ever Event of J’pura Voice, ‘Clash of Minds – Inter-Faculty Debating Competition’ followed by ‘Allusion – Announcing Workshop’, opened up the path for J’pura Voice to grab the hearts of all under USJ. Upon this strong foundation, J’pura Voice was handed over to the Second Executive Board for the term 2020/2021, of which an extraordinary series of events were organized grabbing the attention of Mass Media. Throughout the year, J’pura Voice made the history with the initiation of the First-Ever Comic Dubbing Competition – ‘Warnarawa’ and the First-Ever News Presenting Competition- ‘Supernova’ organized by a local university along with many other catchy events.
Continuing the legacy, J’pura Voice is now on the hands of the Third Executive Board for the Term 2021/2022 and it has already made the history of being the First Ever Club of USJ to gain YouTube Monetization, hitting the limelight of university-level broadcasting. And J’pura Voice is now on the way to reaching the International Level.
